I have an Audi A8 and my fuel flap is not unlocking. After reading the comments above I believe the answer may be in using the key in the drivers door to lock or unlock the car.

How bizarre! I had the same problem and the key unlocking process worked! I like my TT but I've had some experiences with it since buying. (2002) Signaler was a headache. Not like the old signaler relays of days gone by.
