I notice sometime when turning lock to lock...mainly at slower speeds... That I hear some popping noises from the front end. My first conclusion was that it was the haldex system. Much like when an SUV is in 4 Wheel Drive and the wheels are at different speeds. One post I found while searching offered the same answer.

But is there another answer? I know it's a vague description, but I'd hate to go along thinking one thing then find out the hard way that it was a different front end component...

 

i just started to hear this so i ordered the strut bearing and perch replacement kit from ecstuning.com i'll be doing this install sometime next week so i'll be sure to post the results

That is the most likely culprit. The strut bearing and bushing do wear and exhibit the popping, clicking noise when you turn at low speed.

 

thats what i thought.....glad others do too. plus its only 30 bucks and maybe 2-3hrs of work if i take my time

Mine does a single pop on a slow right hand turn only after going straight for a distance.

Someone suggested top of strut to me as well. Ball joint, boot , and CV looked ok.

Yeah that popping happens to my Fwd, I took it to Audi and they didn't now what was wrongg???

 

Say...if you're feeling spunky, would you mind snapping a pic or too? or directing me to a suspension write up (i have yet to find one here or audiworld) Looks like my struts are sitting high in the engine bay, so this will be a repair I'll be making soon too...

I doubt it's tough, at all, but a heads up is always nice.
