Default Forge Splitter installed. Pretty cool item.

Installed the Forge Splitter this morning before work. Build quality is very nice and the movement for adjusting preload is pretty slick! Cool little machined cone on the blow off side. Once I figured out how to get the factory clamps off the rest was a snap. Difference in sound is noticible, but NOT at all like that loud obnoxious sound you hear. Just a cool little pssshhht. I'm going to drill my airbox this weekend and will see how much louder the sound gets. Right now though it gets two thumbs up. There is no doubt also that my stock dv was done, car seems to be more powerful in mid to upper rpms. Only thing that would make sense is that my old stock dv was leaking boost. My stock dv musthave been originalbecause itended with a B andI seeonlinethat the new stock ones are all N. Overall a pretty cool item. TT stuff has a free shipping special and good thing it came with clamps as you basically mangle the stock ones taking them out.

Thanks to the forum for the recommendation!

So it doesn't sound ricey then? That's cool. I've never been a fan of loud BV equipped cars. I opted for the APR DV because the diaphragm design should last a long time and the body casting is supposedly designed for high flow. I didn't notice an improvement in performance per se over the stock one, but I did notice that the surging I was feeling is gone. I guess my stock DV was well on it's way out because the surging was getting worse on a regular basis.

Not ricey at all. I would say that it is about 3 on a 1-10 loud scale. I'm thinking that drilling my intake will take it to about 5 which would be good for me. 10 is what I would consider ricey.

A better option will be to put it over the ic piping so its over the pressure. You will get a much better result that way. It was a little louder when i did that. Or you can always get a dv relocation kit.

What are the benefits of the DV relocation kits? Is there too much heat in the stock location?

Does anybody have a sound clip of the splitter, I want to know if its louder or quieter than the GFB. Because a 3 is not very high I would say my GFB would be a 5 or 6, its pretty loud.

its in the thread i have pics in "a bov that wont hurt the car" or something like that. i think ellite started it. its of a seat ibze 1.8t, but will sound the same. if a dv with stock airbox is a 1 and a full bov is a 10, the splitter is about a 5-6.

heat isnt the issue. a dv/bov is suppose to be near the tb. the closer it is the better it is on the turbo. it will keep the turbo spinningfaster between shiftsand have far less chance of compressor surge.

After driving it all afternoon I would have to say that it is a 5 on the loudness scale. Twisted the little cone to point more up. Actually think it sounds great! I'm also loving my new power over my old busted stock dv.

I just got a forge splitter my self, i heard good and bad things about it but in my opinion i love it...

to describe the sound, i would said at low psi or with out getting on the gas it make a sound like if air was leaking out "wussshhh" reating of 2-3 (out of 10) but if you get on the gas and hit up higher psi it makes that bov sound you got it for in the first place (PSHHHhssssss)

but when i first instaled it on my 180ttq (revo chip 18-20psi / and intake "AEM cone filter") it didint sound loud at all, only after maybe 3-4 days did it start sounding like it should ... or well like i wanted it too...

mine is fully closed off, the instructions say spin it a few times around untill it stops retelling than run it.. but honestly my air/fule guage (witch i know isint the best, cuz it's only hooked up to the sencer) but it was showing ALOT on the rich side when you let of the gas... i have it spinned all the way clock wise untill its closed.. and it sounds really nice
