Default first mods...

i just got my 2001 225hp last Friday.

I've been reading up on mods and didn't realize the versatility that can be had with the 1.8t.

I think I'm set on doing the GIAC and DV first. If I'm completely stock with just those two, will be ok?

What else do I need to be aware of in the future (or right now) to complement the wear/tear these aftermarket parts will do?

The only thing I could think of was an aftermarket clutch, but the only 'dangers' I've read so far is to get the timing belt done at 60k. I'm at 32k.

I'm also thinking about a short shifter. I should be cool right if I don't go to the track and WOT every now and then.

A new DV is pretty much all you'll need for just chipping. A short shifter will be very nice for sure. I love mine for daily driving.
