F**k dissimilar metals, and these damn bushings
Trying to do wheel bearing, ball joint, and a-arm bushings. Hit a snag when I couldn't find the socket for the 12pt nut for the axle, parts store is closed, friend says he has one, wrong, 2mm too small. Skip it....
Ball joint came out ok, a-arm came out ok, getting the ******* bushings out, not ok. The sleeves of the bushings are fused to the a-arm, I gotta press as far as I can, cut rubber, release, repeat until I get the center sleeve out, then carve away the remaining rubber, take a hacksaw to the outer sleeve to get a slice in it, and then chisel it out. Even then, its coming out in pieces.
I'm pissed and running out of daylight.

8:04, dark for a while, been lightly raining for 45 minutes, but the car is back together. Not done, but back together.
Kinda takes 2 people to break the nut loose on the axleshaft, someone in the car with their foot on the brake, and someone turning a wrench. Or a good length block of wood to wedge between teh seat and brake pedal. Neither I have.
I'll try again tomorrow to replace the wheel bearing..
I DID get the powerflex bushings in... on the passenger side. Luckily I don't have far to drive, I dunno how the car is gonna act with stiff poly bushings on one side, and old worn/cracked rubber bushings on the other side. Still has to handle better than it did with the LOOSE lower ball joint, the other thing replaced. I still can't figure out how that happened. The nut was a good 3 turns loose, but difficult to turn.It make the car dive around like crazy if the road was worn from heavy truck traffic, or if I got on it hard. Think torque steer x 10.
I'd like to thank Joe @ Axis Motorsports (nobody you'll see on here, but still an awesome audi/vw guy I'm fortunate enough to have local) for getting me my parts super quick, and at a pretty good price. His website doesn't list much, but he can get pretty much ANYTHING oem for an Audi, and some aftermarket stuff too. I'm getting my Mocal oil cooler and thermostatic plate from him too.
TTStuff hooked me up for the powerflex stuff.
Kinda funny thanking people for little **** I need for the car, but in this case, a ton of crap has been going on at once with the TT, and both companies have really helped me out, and to get this stuff knocked out on my car is a HUGE stress reliever, AND puts me on solid ground to start back into the modding, which is fun, compared to dicking around with maintainence crap all the time.
I think its time to get cleaned up, and go eat some steak.

hey man, let me know if you need someone to come bu and put a foot on the brale for you :-) I feel you on the maintenace thing, I just did the hazard relay, but like diehlryan, apparently its my friggin turnsstalk. I dont feel comfortable dealing with the clockspring, maybe ill have the tuning shop do that when i take the tt down there to find out why the hell I am getting rubbing from my fsb and to get the tip put on, unles thats something you think we can handle. In any event, let me know if you need a couple hours of me to lend a hand. i dont know shiat about cars, but I know hot to push the brake while you turn a wrench
