Ethanol TT
So I went to my Local shop in the bay area, Griffen Motorwerks. They have done my turbo set up before and are putting on Remus exhaust now, Becca I know your jealous . After bs'ing with the owner Terry Griffen for a while I learned he used to work the pits for Indy Series. He is pretty innovative and has made an ethanol TT that runs off the Revo program.
Holy god, The 1.8T engine loves ethonal. It works as either 102 or 103 octane and it rips. Same fuel they use in indy racing. If I buy a new car this next year I'm making the conversion.
Thought it was pretty inovative and people like you would be interested. I'm going back today to pick up my TT, have any questions to ask?

RE: Ethanol TT
You can run your car on it now, you just need to a wbo2 car to do it. However you need 50% larger injectors to run 100% E85 since it takes 50% more fuel to remain stoich. There are a handful of people that have done it already. Having it setup to run it soley on E85 isnt very smart since there isnt to many places that sell it.

mixing gas and ethanol?
Thats what the E10 is that is popular across most of the country, and the E85 that is becoming more popular. E10 = 10% ethanol E85 = 85% ethanol.
We went thru all this BS not too long ago. I'm of the opinion that if you're going to do it, do it 100% (the job, not the ethanol, thats your choice). It's known that alcohol likes to eat stuff up. If I were doing it, pump, lines, and any seals along the way would be upgraded to a known alky safe material. Others think that since the damage isn't immediate, just run it.
Note that there is some resistance to alcohol, cars have been engineered around the E10 stuff since as early as '99.

been looking into using a 30% eath blend in my almost stock except APR tune 2001 TT 225Q, its said to be safe + optimal as increases in octane decrease after that but are still there. local Sheets selling Flex fuel advertised as 51 to 83 % eath cheaper than the 93 oct i run + get a little pinging i dont hear verified by my VAGCOM software. looking for comments!
