question. I painted my break calipers last week. After i was finished and mounted tires, i turned the car on and my ESP light was ON. I pressed the button on my dash to turn it off and it wont turn off. Odd. I waited a day still on, I"ve pressed and held the ESP button, nothing, It stays on. ANyone know wats up with this? Thanks.

Is it Quattro?
My light stays on in my quattro when I pull the haldex fuse.
If you have a quattro, maybe your fuse is blown.

Otherwise we need more info, is anything else odd?
Have you driven it?

If you have your radio code try disconnecting the battery long enough for it to reset.

yes it is a quattro. After reading more posts on this subject I've noticed that issues with the MAF could causethe ESPto stay on, ANd i failed to mention that the day i painted my calipers i also put in an aftermarket intake. I didnt mention it because i though that changing intake surely would not affect the ESP. Looks like I was wrong and my mechanical ignorance shines again. So apperantely the intake could be the problem. blah my check engine light when on also when i changed the intake.

something i forgot, I hooked up the MAF to the new intake, but there is this secondary breather hose. I think thats wat its called. ANyways this extra breather hose has no place to go in the aftermarket intake. Could this cause a problem? The intake i bought is just a cheap 35 dollar APC cone filter. What a difference in sound, holy crap its so loud its almost annoying me. It also sounds like there is a BOV on it now which is cool.

I put on a manual boost controller the other day and disconnected the MAF to get the wires out of the way for a second. I forgot to reconnect it and when I started the car the ESP light was on. When I reconnected the MAF harness, the light went off. The MAF can definitely cause that. I don't know about the SAI hose though...

^ what he said. The light mainly stays on when the maf isnt connected. If it is, check the fuses
