Default ESE Tuning air intake?

I was looking on the ese tuning website and I noticed that they have a air intake for the TT as well as the VW cars, but the intake looks pretty much the same as the neuspeed air intake. Is there any difference in performance? It looks like it is a better quality piece than the neuspeed one and it is about $55 less. Also they claim that their heatshield actually works where the neuspeed one seems to be for looks only. I just want to know if it is a better product than neuspeeds or not?

The neuspeed one uses a k&n filter and this doesnt, but has a nicer heat shield. They both will perform about the same obviously, the decision is what you like better in your engine bay/cost wise.

The filter looks a little bit bigger than the neuspeed one would that make any difference?

For the money, just get a turbohoses.com intake with velocity stack. With out perform both mentioned and cost about the same as the ESE one. Plus be far more benificial when going BT. Just remember, heatsheilds dont do all that much, airflow is what matters.

I already have the neuspeed (gift from the rents about a year ago) would it be worth switching air intakes now? Also it I did get the turbohoses.com intake what would I do with the air breather filter?

Not worth changing. If anyone goes with the turbohoses kit, they can just get another filter to fit into the hose or cover it with a microphone cover

I might be crazy, but in theory wouldn't a cheap ebay intake be better than that?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...spagenameZWDVW

It actually reroutes the filter to a lower position. I know it doesn't have the "heat shield" the others have, and it might not look as good, but shouldn't the cheap one be better in theory?

Someone please correct/enlighten me if I'm wrong. Thanks!

It would take in cooler air than the others, but its still an intake and would give minimum gains.
