ECU question

RE: ECU question
generally you need to stick with the same revision, but occasionally a car will accept a couple different revisions. I see a bunch of S4 ECU's in the trading section of the forum, usually listed with a few different revisions they'll match with, but I don't know what the deal is with the TT, theres not enough people doing guinea pig tests on their car. Just plug it in and see if everything works alright.

RE: ECU question
Ok so here is the deal i have my stock ECU in right now. I had purchase a nig turbo ECU would i be able to plug this in and see if it worked without having the turbo installed. Like just turn on the ACC would that clarify that the ECU would work or would the car need to be turned on?

RE: ECU question
I'd guess you'd want to run the car to be sure that the ECU is controlling everything it should, if you're only sending it power, its not actually doing anything. Engine Management isn't much w/o the engine running, ya know?
But I'll say again, you're kinda in uncharted territory...
I was kinda looking thru the Bentley manual this morning, I found a list of ECU part numbers/revision, and which car they were used in, and part numbers for replacement ecu's, if it was a factory replacement, its gonna be a revision letter followed by an 'X' eg. 018S would be replaced by 018LX. Also listed which cars got which ecu based on engine code, whether it was FWD, Quattro, or or FWD/Quattro with ESP retrofitted.
Don't have net access at the apartment yet, so I didn't know at the time which revisions you were dealing with to try to see how similar they were. I can try to post back tomorrow if I get time to get back into that tonight. I'll also try to get all the ECU info from '00 to '06 for the TTs posted up for future reference.
