Hello all. I have a question I'd like to ask you. My wife is 5 feet tall and under 100 pounds in weight (very very petite). She pretty much has to sit with the driver seat all the way forward - should we disable the driver's side airbag and get her a better belt instead? I've heard some bad things about airbags and women's safety, especially petite women.

I never liked the fact that she has to sit so close to it, but now I am quite worried. I was thinking some kind of 6 point harness like this one:

would this be a better option for my wife than the airbag?

 

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask important life/death type questions like that. You should really research and find out if thats true about airbags and small people, and make your decision based on that research from a reputable source. That being said, this would be a great place to ask about the 6 point harness, if anyone has it, how they like it, installation problems etc. You just have to realize that people on internet forums will say what they think, but that doesnt mean they are right... and with something this important, its important to remember that.

 

Yeah, thanks. I should have made it clearer in my original post - I hope to hear from any TT owners about their own experiences, such as accidents or near misses, how close you are to the steering wheel, etc.

I don't know much about the TT itself. Is the airbag a dual stage or single stage airbag? does the TT have seatposition sensors? (sometimes these will disable the airbag automatically.)
