DO NOT buy guage pillar

DO NOT buy guage pillar
if you are thinking of buying the guage pillar from TT stuff dont do it, i recently got mine and it in no way shape or form fits to the TT. They described it as "Best current fit for the 1999-2006 Audi TT. Can be gently heated with a hair dryer/heat gun to adjust for a custom fit. "Not true. You are better off spending the extra money with the AWE vent guage or APR.

RE: DO NOT buy guage pillar
You can mount a 2 5/8" Autometer into the TT vent with no extra hardware.
Heres the write-up I used: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int34.shtml
It's for a boost gauge, but can obviously be applied to any 2 5/8" gauge. As far as I'm concerned a Boost gauge is the FIRST mod that should be done on a turbo car(it should be OEM on any factory boosted machine, imo), next is an oil temperature gauge as these directly monitor one of the most expensive/essential systems on your car and the dummy lights just dont cut it.
And since there is limited application specific mounting solutions, this is the first problem alot of people run into. This is another good option, but kinda pricy: http://www.techreactions.com/efu.htm $359 isnt too bad for boost, oil, and volt displays with a digital speedo though.
Theres a nice way to mount a couple smaller gauges in the ashtray/drawer behind the shifter though. I dont know who or if anyone makes a kit for it, but it doesnt look too hard to do. I wanna make one that can still be folded into the dash for james-bond effect. lol.
You'll find something. I'm not a big fan of a-pillars anyways they are too obvious. I dont want it to look likewhat it actually is, sneaking up on unsuspecting victims. So I can still have fun trying to conviuce people its stock as it lights up all 4 tires.

RE: DO NOT buy guage pillar
That techreactions display through the stock dash display is pretty trick. Does anyone on this forum have any experience with it? Specifically how difficult was it to install and how is it for boost information?
I was looking at the AWE boost gauge but the techreactions one has my attention now.

RE: DO NOT buy guage pillar
I posted a link to it about a month ago, im not sure anyone on the forum here had heard of it before then, maybe a few. I don't believe anyone has it though. Looks pretty sweet, if I had more disposable income, I'd own it.
