Default DIY Intercooler

I've heard mention of people buying a core and then using a ebay piping kit to make their own intercooler but I haven't been able to find any details. Has anyone done this on a 225 or have more information?

The ebay piping used is for a passanger side TB. This then lets people add in a nicer than ebay core for pretty cheap. A 225 will still need custom pipes made. Its only a few bends and a good muffler shop should be able to bend/weld them up for you for rather cheap.

I actually have a friend that has some high quality silicone intercooler hose with 90, 60, 45, and 22 degree bends. Would it be possible to make a quality intercooler setup with those materials?

I'm currently doing a custom install on my 225 its not going as smooth as I had hoped I can take some pics if you want its a precision 750HP core I have it tucked under the bumper which I had to slightly modify the mounting holes to do and I'm waiting for pipes with all the stock hoses/intercoolers ripped out LMK if you want a certain picture there are a few in my FMIC round 2 thread of the core mounted

you want the lest amount of connections possible to keep flow up and reduce leak spots. A hard pipe kit with only a couple connections would be best

exTTreme: 750 hp core! I'm jealous! You're thread was helpful but what kind of problems are you running into? I'll let you know if I want any pictures. Thanks and good luck!

CincyTT:Yeah that definately makes sense. It can be easy to rationalize cheap It seems easier just to buy a premade kit. Once again thanks for the info, you've had good input on almost all of my threads!

Well you can buy a nice core for $400 ($250 for stock turbos) or less and then most places will charge you less than $300 for the custom piping. You cant buy a nice kit with a quality core for $700 or less. Those kits are all going to be in the $1k range

^ be aware, the 180 TT's piping for FMIC's can get wild and shops can charge you $400+

im actually thinkin about just selling my core
