Well I was taking out the stock intake manifold and somehow the dipstick tube broke. I am going to temporarily stop it up with a rubber stopper. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix it or get a new tube. Also the tube seems to be plastic for about 10 inches or so then it turns to metal. How is the plastic conected to the metal??

same thing happened to me, while I was taking the manifold off... the dealer is actually pretty cheap for the replacement, and the plastic just snaps onto the metal

I'm suprised you didn't suggest your usual fix... crazy glue.

 

Crazy glue is only for the interior... shesh!

thank you eliTTe that helps sooo much but I how do you get the plastic off of the metal? BTW the funnel broke while I was taking off the intake manifold as well lol

 

no problem... I took my shop vac and stuck it up to the hole while I used a set of needle nose pliars to pull the plastic off the metal. yours is probably pretty brittle like mine so you have to be careful not to loose any pieces down into the tube.

If VAG had not cut corners and just used a metal tube all the way up, we would not have this problem, but oh well

 

is it eassy to install the dipstick housing? mine broke on sunday and ordered a new peice, do i just have to take off the plastic engine cover on top and pull out the old plastic housing for the dipstick?
