not sure, but if someone can get smashed between a semi and a bus and only have to worry about getting glass out of his face, i would say they are pretty much safe.

The TT actually has a 5-star government crash test rating. It is actually one of the reasons I purchased it over an S2K. Due to the high crash test standards my 225 roadster costs me $700 less a year to insure and this the insurance company told me was exactly the reason why. Also worth noting is that 3 weeks ago I was rearended by a Kia travelling about 25mph. My bumper was barely damaged (although I was still pissed and am getting it fixed this week and I have aPOS SUV as my rental)and the Kia couldn't even be driven, The road was filled with oil and coolant and the hood could not be opened and you could clearly see the smashed in radiator.
The TT does very well in crash tests, particularly for a small car.The German TUV standards are actually much stricter than ours here in America due to the need for cars to survive high speed accidents on the Autobahn. VW/Audi has produced some of the safest cars in the world over the last few decades even rivaling Volvo. It's also one of the reasons our cars way so damn much.

shoot, mine is under 2900lbs now. Once i get rid of the back seats, get a 15lb battery, lighter catback, new lightwieght wheels i should have it closer 2700lbs.

Just did another google search and i have now seen the fwd's listed as 2910lbs and now just saw a site listing it at 2655lbs. I hope the second one is right so i can cut it down to 2400lbs but i bet the 2910lbs on is right. I dont have a manual to see so if anyone has any input would be nice.
