Default CLUTCH!

Ok so i'm not so sure this is that big of a problem but every once in a while, mainly in the morning when its cold and when i first start my car, when i push my clutch in to change gears it doesnt come back up. It gets stuck and i have to pull it up with my shoe. Has anybody ever had this happen to them and is this a serious problem or should i check some fluids? Please inform? THanks

Sounds like your slave cylinder. Make sure your brake master cylinder reservoir is full. You can try bleeding the slave cylinder but more than likely it is failing and will need to be replaced.

Perform The Following:

1. Check the Clutch Master Cylinder reservoir, if it is low refill it with Brake Fluid. Note though that this is a classic indicator of a bad Master Cylinder. I encountered this problem on my old Corrado which probably uses a similar design to the TTs
2. Check to make sure no connections are damage this includes both the clutch pedal apparatus and all other attachments.
3. If this does not fix the problem I would contact the dealer, don't worry it can't cost to much as it appears from your description that apart from your one problem the cluthc works just fine. If

It's a little tough to explain.. but it's where the transmission mates up with the engine. In the picture below it is #4.



1 - Clutch housing
2 - Reverse shaft
3 - Output shaft 5th/6th and reverse gear
4 - Clutch slave cylinder with release bearing
5 - Input shaft
6 - Output shaft 1st to 4th gear
7 - Differential
8 - Bevel gear transfer case
9 - Right flanged shaft
10 - Head bevel gear with input shaft
11 - Shaft bevel gear
12 - Output flange
13 - Speedometer Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) G22
14 - Left flanged shaft
15 - 2nd gear
16 - 1st gear
17 - 4th gear
18 - 3rd gear
19 - 5th gear
20 - 6th gear
Spacer sleeve installed in 5 Spd. manual transmission
21 - Gear wheel for reverse gear
22 - Transmission housing

Well I never got it fixed, but I believe I have a leak somewhere because every so often I have totop my brake fluid back off. I eventually am going to get a stage 2 clutch so I figured I would get it fixed then.

^wise choice because the gearbox has to be removed to change the slave cylinder which is a part of the release bearing that's on a 2001 TT as you dont mention the age of the car
