Default cluster loses memory

Let's try this again. When I turn off the ignition and turn it back on again, the time and date return to defaults (12:00, etc.), the average mpg starts over, and the trip odometer goes to 0.0. Where is my cluster losing power? I don't lose my radio presets, it's just the cluster. It's a new cluster, by the way, and it was doing this for about 6 weeks before the new cluster was installed.

Have you checked the voltage on your battery? If it is putting out less than 12.5V at rest (nothing on, voltmeter across the terminals) you'll get all sorts of weird things happening with the ECU and cluster.

I'll have it checked tomorrow. It is cranking a little slow.

There should be more than 1 + lead for the cluster. Most likely a wiring problem. One should be for the memory (just like on the radio). Not quite shure on an Audi, I dont have a blueprint to look at.
