Arrow Cincy's been playing, IC content - UPDATE W/ PICS

So today i finally had some time so i decided to rip off the front bumper and mess around with some ideas for an 180 intercooler setup. As of right now i am pondering a few ideas but the one that is begging to get done is a nice water to air intercooler set up. The reason for this is because when i proposed making ic setups in the past many people wanted to keep the stockish look instead of having the ic piping go down the drivers side. What will basically happen is the stock core will be removed and a w2a ic will be installed roughly in that space with a new and larger tb hose. Will be good for stock - 400whp+

Benefits of this set up are:
allow everyone to keep their aliens
keep coolant temps lower by installing a 1" heat exchanger instead of ~3" ic core
less piping
100% stock appearace
wont heat soak at idle or slow moving traffic/drafting
great cooling capability
NO CUTTING OF THE BUMPER OR MOVING HORNS!!
Finally if desired, ice water can be installed before dyno, auto x, drag racing to lower iat's below ambient

only real drawbacks are you will have to replace the coolent/water like you would in the engine and little more complicated to install, but i will make it simple.

Comments, concerns, interests?

yeah that would be pretty cool.
so you would run a fmac with pump, lines, and a reservoir?

That is pretty much it, but i would use a larger heat exchanger with a filler/overflow spout instead of a separate res since it will hold more than enough water/coolant

should be pretty nice. Alot of room for people to upgrade too. Larger exchanger and larger reservoir for more liquid...

i would run something like this (a little smaller though) with a bosch svt lightning pump and then some lines. and then make or buy some sort of reservoir, i would make my own.

I probably could replace the passenger side core with a w2a core and then either let people leave the drivers side a2a or replace it (prefered) with tubing to keep it stock looking. I would need a 225 passenger ic along with some pics (and maybe couplers off both ends) and im sure i could do it since i dont know anyone with a 225 here.

all those cores are just to big (pressure drop) or to expensive for a good smaller core ($500+). I wouldnt be able to give anyone anything good for the cost unless they just want subpar results. The reason i was going to do this is the give a high cost setup for a little more than ebay price. Cost, appearence, fitment, ease of install will all be better with a a2w than a a2a. Plus everyone will be able to keep the front grills (all 3) instead of having to dump the sides and have pipes sticking out of them. If there is an interest, i should be able to have a first batch out by the end of next month with the prototype done by the end of next week if i can get all the parts before the weekend.

Costwise we will be looking at $700-725 for these but i would do the first 5-7 for $675 if i like the results. Basically what you will be getting with this would be only a fraction of a psi of psi drop (stock has been test to have ~2psi according to boost factory) and will be perfect for stock to 600hp w/o having to swap cores like you would with a a2a core (a good 600hp core is ~$400).

If a2a is really prefered, the cost will be probably another $75-100 more to get a good core that i can use and make it fit the way i prefer.
