Chipping Grandma?

Greetings Learned Forum:
I have a 2001 TT Quattro 225 with 130K. I have been fooling around with the idea of chipping it ever since I bought it brand new oh so many miles and years ago. At first I did not want to void the warranty. Then other priorities developed, and I let it go.
Now I am no longer making the pilgrimage to the dealership for service. Instead, I am working with a local mechanic that is also an Audi tuner. So the chip idea has again reared its expensive head.
Should my car's mileage enter into the equation of whether to chip or not? Does it matter at all?
On a related note, my mechanic uses Dahlback chips. OUCH. $800 for the chip alone! This is substantially more than APR, GIAC, etc. Is Dahlback that much better? Am I being overcharged for a Dahlback chip?
Your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

whats the specs on the dahlback? GIAC and APR give around 30hp. In regards to the age of the vehicle, thats not a ton of miles, but it is up there. Audi's are built to last, as long as you've always taken care of it, it shouldnt be a problem to chip it, but maybe try to go with a less agressive programming.
