But if you talking 180 fwd (chipped) vs. 225 quattro (stock)it should be a close race, I think it would come down to the launch if the FWD can grab traction and pull off >2.0 sec 60ft time, then it would be a close race. Even if not then I think that the 180 would give it a run for its money, the 225 you have to shift one more time extra however it keeps you in the poweband alittle longer. If the 225 held onto 3rd gear till redline maybe....maybe but it would be close. I can race in the "stock" modeto see what my times are, then "street" then in "race" to see what the differences all are. I will have to do that when I get back and post the results.

5spd will be faster in a drag (finish in 3rd instead or 4th on a 6spd)

with a chip the 180 will have ~10hp less but up ~40ftlbs. That will be at 15psi and up it to 20psi and the 180 should have a little more hp than a 225 and 50-55 more ftlbs over a 225.

hope that helps.
good points but i think that the 225 will stay to its strength in the drag with the bigger hp numbers through a high power band. the torque will only be useable off the line in both cars. once they are rolling and banging through the gears the 225 rpm drop from shifts should be minimal allowing it to stay higher up. the 180 will be stressing higher up with a less efficient turbo, and falling out of its power band after shifts. so even with more hp the 180 should still be a little disadvantaged. you would be in a situation where shifting early to get out of the huge loss from turbo efficiency would cause you to drop further back away from the the power band on the other side reving it out would cause you make alot less hp in the critical red line area but you would be closer into the band with the shift. remember all the power we add to our 1.8t's regarless of block codes takes away our low end and pushes it further up top. either case i think it would be a interesting race to watch, with out the human factor it would be cooler. ever seen dyno drag runs, that is the best way to settle this.

Never seen them, let me guess two cars side by side that are on the dyno at the same time?

i think its a dyno run for theequivalent distance as a 1/4 mile. so u get to rip all the gears onyour car.

BTW, i didnt even know they made FWD TTs until i came on the forums here. lol here in Canada they dont even offer 1 Audi in their lineup that is FWD .. only quattro here.

people will be shifting shortly after 5k to keep it in the powerband and under 5252rpms torque is king! Dropping the rpms after a shift to 3k range puts you right back into the heart of a ko3's powerband.Holding 3rd gear to the finish and you will have a good time.

You keep thinking hp, this aint no honda, its a torque monster from germany!!!

power for a ko3 drops badly between 5-5.k so somewhere in that range is a good point to shift. With a ko4 is should be between 5.5-6k.

yes, having the power drop will still be faster than the time it takes to shift and go.
