I've heard of removing that big black piece of tubing that crosses infront of the engine, so you can get to the filter alot easier.

Believe the owners manual has some obscene number like 7,500 miles for oil changes. Personally, I value my cars engine, and therefor do it every 4K.
kovachian, scratch the pipe idea, its easier and faster to pull the plastic engine covers off, and pull the filter out from the top. I wedge rags below the oil filter bracket to catch what continues dribbling out once the filter is removed, works well for me.
I must admit though, I get to change my oil while remaining in the upright position, which makes things tons easier by itself. My garage has a pit, which puts the oil filter at head level, and road crud out of my eyes.
