Default Cause of breakdown on TT day after sale??!!

Please help me with what could be cause..??
'01 Roadster with 40K miles, all services performed, never any mechanical problems, sold it with the utmost confidence that it was a sound vehicle.
Dealer performed a vehicle inspection before the sale, replaced brakes and nothing else was noted.
Three days later new owner was in contact from Bozeman, MT after driving from Oregon and stated that car "broke down on the trip and would not run". Bozeman Audi has performed the following replacements to get it "running".
New EVAP charcoal canister, EVAP purge solenoid, O2 sensor, ignition coils, mechanical recirc. valve and all new spark plugs to the grand total of $1038.00
Any idea what would cause a breakdown to warrant these parts? At a total loss but do feel some responsibility although details are sketchy at best.
Thanks in advance.

It seams like those parts are not all related and the dealer might have screwed them. Was the car sitting for a long period of time? I would guess a coil pack broke.

Don't feel bad, things like this happen all the time.

Salesman taking it out for a "Test Drive" before the sale is my best guess.

You traded it in, or it was sold for you by the dealer?

if it would not run, its most likely a blown charge pipe or the TB went.

Bozeman needs to do a diag before just throwing parts at the car it sounds like! Aside from the coils (all of them???????) nothing else on the list could make the car not run at all. Have seen a coil go bad and actually melt or burn at the electrical connector which then opens a fuse in the left fuse panel (can't recall specifically which one off the top of my head). They need to find out what is missing, is it fuel, spark, valve timing off, or what? I know that doesn't really answer your question though, sorry.
