RE: car shakes at 60-80mph?
Check ur air brake fluid, its probably low and therefore is not letting the correct amount of air get to the brakes to release them, thus the studdering from then rubbing against ur rotors. Thats what happend to me!

Definately snow! Had the same problem this morning on my way to work. Parked in a heated garage all day, problem gone. This is quite common with all cars I have had during times of snow. By the way, my car performed great with my winter tires and rims.

1996 Audi A4 Car Shaking
I have an 1996 Audi A4 2.8L
The same problem occurred for me tonight. When ever I accelerated above 60mph the car would violently shake. It normally happens during the winter time, but it's not because of the snow build up since I hit the wheel wells with the back of my heel whenever I get in to drive. The alignment is not off cause the car drives perfectly straight. But yet my engine light is not on..?? If it were to be the wheel weights than the alignment wouldn't be as straight correct?? Any other suggestions?

keep it simple, i'm betting it's snow. Happened to my gf's car and then mine. Our tt's (at least mine) builds up snow throughout the ENTIRE wheel well. It's insane! I pulled a whole half circle of snow and ice out of each well, of couse we got about 18 inches the other Monday.

I think everyones terminology is a bit off.
At least I HOPE it is, because snow in the wheel well doesn't do a damn thing (unless it ices up and you can't turn the wheel anymore (happened to a friends dad)).
Where the ice/snow is a problem is packed in your rim. The 'barrel' of your rim, if you will. A few ounces of snow/ice is a few ounces of weight, just the same as the few ounces of lead used to balance the rim.
Could also be dirt/sand. It might deposit on the rim evenly as you drive, but if its wet, and you stop for a bit, that 'mud' will pool to the bottom of your rim, throwing the balance off.
Moral of the story: Keep the insides of your rims clean and your car will ride smoother.

My car does this when: either there is snow/ice built up on inside the wheel well and is hitting the tire, or snow/ice is built up on the inside of wheels causing unbalance. I keep a golf club handy and use the rubber end to knock out the stuff inside wheel wells after big snow.( my coils are set to perfect hight to allow me to remove snow) and only powerwasher works for stuff inside wheels. My BBs Cks seem really prone to snow inside the wheel.
