How long ago did you do the TB job before this happened?
As far as no compression I did my own TB job skipped a tooth and payed for the repairs.
I loss compression in Cylinders 2 & 3 the day I did it. I had a small ting before they hit put the motor ran.
Then I hit the gas a bit and it just shut off.
I honestly hope this is not your problem as well.

Boy, that doesn't sound good. I was going to do my TB with a friends help but now I am not so sure.
If all it takes to be off by one Tooth then I will gladly pay to have it installed by a professional.
That way if something does go wrong I know who to blame. There is actually a VW Dealership here in town
that will do the TB for $375.00 (labor only) plus parts and I can bring in the DG or ECS tuning kit and they
will install it. I only have about 55k on it now but I better get it done so I don't have to worry about it.

I did the timing belt about a month ago. I drove over 1500 miles after the change. My mechanic called me and he said that it is the chain tensioner that is on the other side of the engine that failed and made the chain skip. Doing the timing belt was time consuming but not complicated. I did it with my 14 year old son in about 7 hours. I am sure it was done right. the car ran perfect after. I was so **** about making sure that the belt went on right I marked the old belt and pulleys before taking it off transfered the marks to the new one and checked on the transmission to see it was at tdc. I spent a great deal of time making sure that it was put on right. My mechanic said that some times the intake valves don't all get damaged. My exhaust valves should be fine because the chain does not turn them. Does this sound right to you guys?

In all honesty its really easy.
I was loosing light so I rushed and didn't line up my TDC marks right. I had done another TB job before I did mine, but take your time.
The first time I did my own was the time it hit. I took the car apart & back together like six times.
I could prolly get it done in like 4 hours now.
Best advice I could give is....give yourself plenty of time, make sure all marks are highly visible, and dont lose any bolts [8D]

Yeah, most times the center intake is the one that is damaged and if it was moving fast, the other 2 can hit also.

Just smooth the pistons out and replace the bent valves and your good. You dont even have to remove the block or pistons to do it.

I have the low down as to what happened to my car. I did not know this could happened but the key holding the pulley to the cam shaft broke. I could not believe it until I saw it for myself. Yep half the key is in the shaft the other is in the pulley.
