Default Car just died

Hey guys,

My 2001 TT Quatro 225 Just suddenly shut down as I was driving my son to school this morning. It turns with the starter but does not fire up. I tought it was the timming belt but I checked it and it was fine. I know it could be a million things but what should I checked to troubleshoot this?

Thank you

I am a newbie as well but the first thing I would check would be the spark plugs... might be wrong though

Think some people have had battery/alternator problems that caused this. Like said above, check the connections for buildup and then have the battery tested and if still needed, the alt.

I just filled it up last night. The battery must be putting out enough because the starter is turning the engine just fine.

i had sporadic problems like that last month and i thought it was an old battery- turned out to be the alternator and i had to get it replaced.

EDIT: my problems only happened during cold start, it never died while already on the road.

What do you mean by shut down... Car completely turned off with no power what so ever, stalled?
Maybe your clutch is shot? Just taking a stab in the dark. *shrug*

If the clutch went, there would just no power transfer. It would be like putting the car in N.
