Default Autolite krap!

Autolites are crap! I had one fail after less than 1000 miles when the insulator surrounding the electrode broke and dropped down to cover the electrode. Needless to say, this caused misfires in the cylinder that had the sparkplug. In my over 35 years of driving, I have NEVER had this happen before. Then again, I have NEVER knowingly used autolites before.

That was probably a small fraction of a percent chance of happening.

We all use NGK's since they are cheap, most places carry them, and they come in a heat range colder (or 2 for much bigger turbos). Not to mention easier to gap than iridiums. If the plugs were a challenge to replace, we all be running longer life plugs.

Like said, I have used Autolites a few times in a pinch on 2 1.8t's (not stock) and they performed just like any other plug and lasted just as long. Its almost like saying X brand gas will make your car run like crap vs Y brand

Well, my car does run better on certain brands of gas. Anyway, when I returned the busted plug to Advance Auto, where I had gotten them, the guy behind the counter said he would never put Autolites in his car.

Your right, you could probably run Autolites as long as any other plug without a problem, but once is enough for me. This type of defect should NEVER have happened.

Do you also use Fram oil filters?

The OP also was talking about a battery replacement also. I had to replace my battery last fall on my A4. I was able to source a direct replacement through Batteriesplus. It was an exact match down to the detail on the battery carcass itself. I paid $120 versus the $350 that my local Audi dealer quoted me.
