Built my own ram air last night ;)
OK, so, i finally got my car, an '02 180. Say what you will about the 180, but it's really very quick (this one, I mean).
It came with a chip (haven't figured out which one yet, though...), and now it has an intake My friend has a BMW M3 and recently purchased a powdercoat-aluminum intake for it. Without even opening it, he decided he wanted the carbon-fiber intake and just gave me the aluminum one.
So, last night we modified the intake to fit the TT. Right now, it's installed in there without the ram-air feeds from the bumper, but soon I plan to fabricate a VTDA or TTDA shield and run 2 tubes for the ram air. It sounds like a jet when I'm on it, but when I'm just cruising the sound totally disappears. Plus, now I really can't keep traction... the wheels are almost breaking loose in mid-upper 2nd gear!
I don't think I should do too many more performance mods, as I don't think I'm going to be drive it without burning up my tires pulling out of the driveway.
So, just thought I'd give the update

Call me crazy, but I have trouble swallowing some of this talk about 3rd gear tire breaking or 3rd and 4th gear neck-breaking acceleration. My revo'd 225 and new DV is peppy but it can't even think about spinning wheels in 3rd unless the pavement is wet, traction control is off, and I'm over 4000rpm and stomp on it(and going around a corner). 2nd won't even break in a straight line. Maybe my car has some serious issues? I still have lag. Power does not kick in hard till 3000 despite the new DV but it runs hard enough to stay ahead of my neighbors WRX through 90mph(we quit a that point) so if my car is not set up perfect, it is reaasonable. But chipped tt's doing things my brother's STi doesn't like to do. Okay. Stay ahead of the WRX, yes. STi, I get crushed.

Yes, sptriple, I do not mean to say that I'm breaking the tires in second or third... but anywhere in first I get wheel hop, and second gets really close at about 5000 rpms and above.
I've driven WRXs (love them), and I'm sure that from a roll (I don't dump the clutch, ever), I'd take one. I'm 99% sure an STi would school me from a roll, but with a tiny bit more boost, I might be able to keep up.
Any STi or WRX would kill me in the turns and overall performance, but this is my long-distance cruiser!

Here's the car... It is basically mint. Totally mint... I'm so impressed with it.

Your car looks great. Your car sounds set up pretty well, especiallyfor a 180. I should be pushing around 250hp but it just does not feel that strong, though the WRX was not faster from the stop. I can get wheel spin easily in first with traction off but not second, no dumping clutch, just lead foot at 3000rpm. I'd really like to find someone in my area(chicago) with a nice running 225 to see what I should be expecting. Maybe I'm not too far off. I thing I am going to invest in an aftermarket intake at any rate.

Thanks for the compliment
You should get a boost guage to see where you're boosting at. Maybe you have a crack in one of the turbo/vac lines?
I leave ESP on and I still break 'em loose... I still think I'm going to buy a Boost Machine from the Modshack, even though I don't want any more power in first gear.... Hey, if nothing else, boost will be smoother, right?
