So the wifey isn't really feeling the cost of new rotors.

How important is it I change the rotors?

Depends on their condition. Are they warped or grooved?

Hard to tell. The only thing I can really tell is that there is a 2mm lip on the inside radius and outside radius of the rotor.

Take them to a brake shop and they will resurface them for you if it can be done (sounds like it can) and shouldnt cost to much.
