Default The boost machine/ect ect thread revisited.

Thinking of building one, but if I order direct from Norgren (makers of 2 of 3 of the boost machine components) I need a $50 order minimum. Considering the non-return valve in the boost machine is $11.50, and the Norgren regulator is $21.95, I can't imagine you would be paying much more for the other 0-30psi regulator... You would probably have everything you need for a boost machine for about $50 plus shipping. Don't quote me on that yet, as I don't know the cost of the other regulator (a Metalworks regulator).

I'd make the order, have everything shipped to me, and then I'd box up the 'kits', and send them out as I was reimbursed for the parts. You'll still need to get your own fittings and assemble it.

BTW, incase you think this is to technical for you, a trained monkey could do it, I'd rate this a .5 on the 1 to 10 scale. Heres a writeup. http://www.personal.kent.edu/~cplasket/BMFAQ.htm

UPDATE: Finally got with a retail company for the metalwork valves, they're about $34 a piece. Anyone interested at this point, I'm ready to put together an order. End up just over $70 plus shipping. I also have piles of diodes, for both 180's and 225's, so if you want one of those too, just say, and I'll throw one in. You can't seem to get them in orders less than 25 pieces on ebay, and it costs like, $5 shipped, so I have more than I'll ever need.

I'd be interested. 100%. Count me in.

I'd also be interested in you welding me up a custom 2.75in exhaust with electronic exhaust dump. [sm=goodidea.gif] Probably not until the spring though. I'd make a trip up for a weekend and we could get it done.

Got ya marked down for the boost machine, I'll let you know on the exhaust part. Not above my abilities, but possibly above my capabilities....

I need a few parts for my welder for TIG capabilities, which is what you're gonna want. Nice small clean welds. At one point, I was making near-pharmacutical grade welds, meaning no seams or anything for 'stuff' to get trapped in and contaminate whatever the lines are used for.

dont do it ryan, the elctric dumps arent all that great, also they scrape alot on lowered cars. the problem with them is it is a huge exhaust obstruction when they are closed, you loose spool time and power. then when they are open you gain a ton of spool time and power, now you are on the side of the road turning down your mbc. or not and then bending a rod. this mod is usually good for guys with forged internals, or if you want to go through with buying installing and tuning a electronic boost controller. i have a customer that has one and i am not impressed. it is cool though to be sitting at a light and flip a switch and the car just starts idling really loud. otherwise i would go with a nice 3 inch stainless back exhaust with 2 top quality inline resonators. very quiet until you start flooring it.

Boost machine around that price sounds real good to me.Quick question, the only parts I need to get would be the relief valve, fittings, and silicone tubing.

Sounds like a good idea there Matt.

BTW, your not going to break anything with a cutout or be forced to turn down a mbc because of just a cutout. It just acts like a 3" exhaust on demand instead of having on all the time

really? so your saying changing the exhaust diameter and travel has no effect on spool time or output? funny we just did one to sean tate's car aka Donsupreme and spent the entire trip down to h20 trying to find a happy medium on the boost controller. granted we are running a gt35r so it would be much more effected by the change but still same thing.
