blue smoke after idle
2000 180 with 73k miles Up to 80k maintenance
After she idles for appox. 5 minutes blue smoke comes out of the exhaust. Once I start driving the smoke dissappears after a 1/4 mile or so. I know blue smoke equals oil. Could this be an early sign of the turbo going?
Thanks,
Brandon

RE: blue smoke after idle
You can use and oil stabilizer like what STP makes, it will help but the thing is that wont fix the problem. if you're a DIY'er its a time consuming project with low-moderate difficulty to replace the valveguide seals. assuming that is the problem.
check your sparkplugs to see if there are any signs of oil being burnt in the combustion chamber. If that doesnt show you anything or you cant tell, drop your downpipe and check to see if there is any signs of fresh oil, or shaft play. That will also be a good indicator.

RE: blue smoke after idle
Hey guys, i have a 2001 audi tt 225hp. My dip stick recently broke and spilled oil all over the place including dripping onto the ground. After i got that fixed, i noticed there was some smoke coming from the back of the engine ( im assuming its from the turbo). This happens only while the car is still cold and warming up, once its warmed up the smoke goes away. Also it seems abnormally hot back there, please see if you can shed some light into my situation.
