Default auto tranny sliping/shudder (please, need help)

ANY help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
i have a 2003 1.8 (65,000 miles) with an auto tranny.
1. are all auto trans considered DSG's?
2. i just had tranny fluid changed. when in D, (AFTER WARMUP) its sliping/shuddering slightly upshifting from 1-2 and 2-3. also, bangs hard when downshifting same gears. please tell me i dont have to replace/rebuild the tranny. i read somewhere that if your alternator is not throwing a full charge it can effect the DSG transmission shifts? Any thoughts?
-thanks again (this is my first post)

My 2003 had the exact same issue at 65k. Same gears / bang on downshift into 3rd usually sometimes 2nd. And i'd get a shudder when i came to a complete stop. I replaced a motor mount and that took care of most of the issues (sort of a rocking forward feeling when it upshifted into 2nd/3rd), but the bang on downshift remained. Changed out the trans fluid and it has been okay the last 6 months or so.

Now I'm having some more of the symptoms that the motor mount was giving me but the shifting seems alright. I'm thinking i should have replaced all mounts at the same time rather than just the one.

I thought that those trannys are with lifetime fluid and it cant be changed? Other than that it sounds like an easy fix that won't cost much

It can and should be changed. The auto trans fluid is expensive and the fluid filled mounts are not cheap either. I ended up having my trans pan dropped 3 times because the pan wouldn't seal up. Got a new pan and went through lots of fluid. $$$.

...But I have heard others having their TT's auto trans fail very early so I can't say any of that is your solution for sure.

If all goes smoothly the ATF service at a shop would probably cost around 300-350 including the fluid.
