Hey everyone, just joined the forums. I am in the market for a fast two seater! I went to the Audi dealership not expecting anything. Up to yesterday, I always thought Audi was like Volvo. Great cars, but never performance minded. The TT literally blew me away. It was the most amazing experience I have ever had in a car! I recently got to test drive both cars and this is what I concluded.

I definitely liked the Z4, good handling, very strong 2nd gear and the styling is incredible. A couple things I didn't like about the Z4 were the uncomfortable seats, rougher ride, and the sound system quite frankly, sucked! There were no dislikes with the TT. But the most important difference between the two that I felt was the "one with the car" feeling. The TT with out a doubt had that feeling, not so much with the Z4. The traction control on the Z4 felt really weird when I got on it in a turn. I had goose bumps and heart rate of 170 when the salesperson was driving the TT. The Z4 never gave me goose bumps, the 2nd gear got my heart running though! The guys at BMW said they run circles around the TT, I don't know about that!

I am leaning heavily towards the TT. BMW has great lease offers, so that would really be the only reason I would go with the Z4. Hopefully Audi can get my payments under $500 and minimum downpayment on a 24 or 36 month lease.

Another plus about going with Audi is they support the American Le Mans Series. I am a huge ALMS & F1fan, though I have been pulling for Porsche this year! The Audi has won enough.

 

All I know is that I blew away a Z4 M roadsterwith my lil' ole 1.8 225 TT when all it had was a chip and otherwise stock. The guy who was driving it was pissed!

 

If your a huge ALMS fan, find a ALMS edition car. They come in Silver w. red interior and a special red paint w/ silver interior along w/ 18" rims.

 

You sure it was trying? Or that the driver wasn't retarded? lol I don't see how a chipped 225 could blow away a Z4 M...which has 330hp/260ft-lbs, weighs about the same and does 0-60 in <5 seconds stock.

 

Odd, I could only keep up with a Z4, but I have taken out Z3's.

 

Z3s are fun little cars... but not fast by any stretch of the imagination. My brother has a z3 and I drove it for two weeks on leave and I hadn't driven in a couple years so it seemed fast to me. I mentioned it to him and he was like "WTF?!.. dude... your car kills this thing. I thought this car was quick... until I drove your audi." Never driven a Z4 M, but it sounds fast lol. Piece of advice though... TT owners usually become TT lovers. I wouldn't lease unless you're cool with the balloon payment cause you're probably not going to wanna part with that TT once you have it. It really is a "One with the Car" feeling.

One of the reasons I want to do a lease is because I am going to study in France my senior year. I can do a 24 month lease, then when I get back from France, do a 36 month lease while I'm in law school. Then move up to a Porsche 911 when I get my wicked signing bonus! lol Or, maybe Audi will have a performance version of the TT like BMW's M series.

I test drove both new 2008 Audi TT (2.0TT model) and 2008 BMW Z4. While I am a fan of both Audi and BMW (I own a 1996 BMW 3series), I loved the new 2008 Audi TT, it is fast, very luxurious and looks better in my view than the BMW. The Z4 had rattles, was not that comfy and lacked the creature comforts of the Audi TT. Wow I must be turning into an Audi fan!
