Audi tt - update

man that really sucks.. So what are your plans now? I had the same problem as you. Was driving and lost engine power. I had feeling it was TB problem.. So I just had the car towed home. Then checked around on who would charge me what amount for labor. Thank god I didnt take it to a shop. Shop would have charge me a min of $500 to 1k for the TB job.
Was also looking into other possibilities of further damage to car. Everyone on AF was telling me there would be valve damage. So checked with other shops around to see what they would charge me to pull the head. I got a quote from a shop that I knew (this guy use to live in my house and his family worked for my family). He gave me a so called hook up price of $1200 just to pull the head not counting parts.
So decided to have the car towed to my office and have my brother and a friend work on it. Thankfully they saved me a ton of money on labor (all work done with beer as incentive/payment).

well, i'm just a little freaked now.. I was okay with the engine having to be replaced, but just seeing my car in the condition it was in made me so distraught.. my beautiful car with this ugly piece of **** greasy underpan inside of it.. that was so completely un-necessary.
I think I found an engine for 1600, just need to find a place to put it in.

So wait.. Your whole engine is shot? Even with the new TB installed it still won't start? Cause after I changed my TB and put the car back together. The engine started but would die. So we removed the head and took it to a shop. They said all 8 of the exhaust valves are bent and 2 intake valves bent also. I should be receiving the new valves and other parts 2morrow. The head won't come back til wednesday at which time I will have the car put back together.

Ah, you can't remove posts.. Only forum admins can, and I don't see how u can get lawsuit threats through freedom of speech. Back on track, my TB didn't break either. It just lost 16 of the teeth on the TB. Which caused the valves to be bent. Are you sure you need to replace the engine? or are you talking about replacing the head? There is a difference.
If it is just the head, you can remove your's and take it to a shop. They will tell you how many valves are bent and or if the head is damaged. Doesn't cost alot to do.
