Default rebuilding the valve body

Just dropped my car off at the mechanic (aka my father) to try to rebuild the valve body. If this does not work, a rebuilt one costs $600 or a new in the $800-$1200 range... i will update later once this has been done! **cross your fingers**

Any word on if he could fix it? I am taking mine in this week to get the fluid changed and hoping that will fix it.

So far... Still in the shop! The rebuilding of the valve body didn't work for mine.. Too much damage to the solenoids. He is going to try to do some adjustments before giving up. Probably will be purchasing a valve body for about $700 this week because we know that this I'd definitely the problem. FYI- my dad said the rebuild was the most complicated valve body he has ever rebuild although removing the VB itself was actually very easy. If u have a good mechanic to replace VB, good! It costs $1900 at the local Audi dealership to replace. Will update once the new VB is in and running!!!

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!
Picked up my car today('03 Audi TT Automatic)! After the rebuild of the valve body just would not cut it, we purchased (basically) a rebuilt, but improved valve body from this site below:
http://revmaxconverters.com/valve-bo...em-replacement

It was $659, plus approx $35 shipping. Also, you sort of have to pay for core ($200) but then send it back and they refund you the $200. We received it within the same week of ordering it.
I have only drove it a couple of times, but long enough for the car to get really warmed up! I am very excited to say that it has NEVER ran this smooth since i bought the car a year in a half ago!!
Now, i was going to buy a new VB from Audi, but after reading about the improvements that RevMax has done with the valve body, and learning that they sell atleast 1-2 a day of these exact VB, i decided it was best that i DO NOT buy the VB from the dealership because it is just the same POS that they put in the car when it was manufactured. Now.... i will say, my mechanic is my father (lucky for me, yes). I HIGHLY recommend having someone that you trust do this work. If you need a mechanic in North Carolina, i can recommend my father (LOL) but otherwise, just trust your mechanic!! Oh, also, you wil need to buy transmission fluid. DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT buy something other than the stuff from Audi! It is approx. $18-$20 a bottle, takes minimum of 5, so you are looking at another $100 to add.

Well.... all.. so far, so good over here. i know it has only been a day or 2, but I am just SO excited to have my car back and on the road. I hope you all have this amount of luck and do not find it to be something even worse.
FYI---Audi quoted me $1,900 to do this work, although not a terrible price considering, but it took my dad all of 2 hours to take out and put the new VB in. So, they are charging you $700 in labor.
GOOD LUCK!!! hope this helped some?!

I am picking up on this old thread, just to thank christie1205. The 2003 TT started jerking horribly. Audi diagnosed the VB issue and asked $2,000. Bought the rebuild from Rev Max Converters for $659 and found an Audi mechanic on Craigslist that asked $250 for labor. All done and smooth riding again. Btw did the same with the timing belt/water pump ... bought online and the same mechanic fixed. $475 vs $1,790 Audi Dealer.

Hello,

Same problem here. 2005 TT 1.8T FWD 65k miles, shutters between 2/3, worst in traffic after it has been run a bit.

Can someone tell me which valve body I should be looking to get here?

Thanks!

Mine is a 2003 I got the 09G TF60SN valve body. I think the 2005 has the same VB but without pressure switches. Check their website at Updated OEM Replacements | Valve Bodies or better call them at 877-780-4334. At the same time you want to get a new seal, bolts and filter kit. Got it on ebay for $21.

Also check out Hiram Guiterrez on youtube. Very knowlegable tranny rebuilder. watching his videos helped me change out my vb, and i have literally NO transmission experience.
