I bought a used 03 1.8 Automatic and I get quite a bit of a jerk when
it automatically shifts from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. Dealer says
this is the wave of the future, the latest in auto transmissions.
Someday soon they will all behave this way.

Anybody have this problem, or is this guy correct? My first Audi, so I
don't know what to believe.

 

Well , there arent too many Auto tranny TT's out there.
U might have a problem with this
What kind of jerking is it ? Like violent ?
Its notrmal to feel the tranny shifting. Its not a CVT.

 

This is the 2003 TT with the 1.8 liter and automatic transmission. The one with Tiptronic style shifter that lets you do it manually also. I refer to this as the automatic transmission. It gives a pretty healthy hard jolt when shifting automatically. The Audi dealer says this is the way it is supposed to shift on all automatics. Not sure what you mean by there are few automatics out there. But the main question is "are all Audi TT's automatic transmissions supposed to give a jolt on the first 2 shifts?" the rest are smooth.

 

I dont know man. Ive got an A4 with a tip tranny. And I get no 'jerking' .

I just recently purchased an '03 TT Automatic/Tiptronic and I was experiencing the same problem but not consistently and now I believe the transmission is no longer working. I would like to know if you resolved the problem and how. Thanks!

 

The one who started to thread on thread only had those to post and hasnt been on inalmost 3years. The other guy in 1 1/2 years. Your not going to get an answer. You will have to have it inspected professionally. There isnt probably a quick or easy fix.

BTW, start a new thread instead of bumping a thread from 3 years ago.

Its hard to win here sometimes, you can get **** for starting a thread instead of using the search, or for using the search and not starting a thread.

 

finding info and using it is one thing. Finding info and bumping a dead thread with 2 accounts that are inactive for years is another.
