That makes a lot more sense! Any idea if the new 3.2 V6 uses a timing chain or does it still use a timing belt?

The 3.2 V-6 is available with the Quattro and the 6-Speed. I've driven one at Sewickley Audi near Pittsburgh, PA.

It uses a timing chain, not a belt.

The 2.0T comes in Auto only with paddle shifters(its nice!!), the 3.2 V6 comes in Manual and only a coupe. If you want a roadster it going to be a 2.0T. I test drove one down in Plano TX. I really wanst impressed (2.0T vs 225). I like the MK1's better. They make you drive them. The new TT seems to be too much like a famliy car is not as sporty. They did however fix all the problems that we have with our, like reaching back with yourleft arm to find the damm seatbelt, thats fixed, the peeling on the door and around where you put the key in, fixed. The roadster has a Z style fold now so no more ripping out of the window. Haha even thought Audi said that its not covered under warrenty they went ahead and fixed it. I wonder why????

Talking about DSG, when are they going to have CVT boxes in performance cars? Doesn't that make a lot of sense?

I can't speak for everyone, but a performance car isn't a performance car w/o a true manual transmission. The automatics, DSGs, and CVTs are nifty gadgets though.

Absolutely true. SUV's and Caddy's are where auto's belong (even if they can shift faster than my incompetent human hands).

My datsun is an exception. If I didn't have so much other crap to do with it i'd switch it over to manual too.
Side pipes get put on this week!!! Damn that car is gonna be loud.

BTT

What type of Quattro system does the Mk 2 TT use? Is it the Haldex? How reliable are the electronic locking differentials? What about the center differential?

How is the 2.0L I4 or the 3.2L V6 engine? Do I need to adjust the valves like I hear you have to do on the BMW Z4 engines?

I've grown quite fond of the 4.6L 3V V8 engine in my Mustang GT and I'm familiar with the Ford modular OHC V8s. I'm not sure I want to downgrade to a 6-cylinder engine.
