Audi TT Mirrors do Not Adjust All the way In
I recently purchased an 2001 Audi TT Roadster 225. The electric mirrors adjust in, out, up and down just fine. However, I cannot adjust them in all the way in so that I can see the sides of the car when glancing in the mirror. For both the driver and passenger mirrors I have to lean over to see the side of the TT. It's great for checking the blind spots, but not great when I want to see the vehicle behind me. The mirrors appear to be situated correctly. When I brought it up during a recent service to an Audi specialist, the mechanic said it's a known issue with 1st gen Audi TT models.
Has anyone found a reliable solution, like a wedge between the mirror glass and the mounting plate to slightly change the mirror position to compensate for this annoyance. Or, do you have another solution? The mirrors appear to be factory as they are faded around the edges and have the "objects in mirror..." message on the passenger side. I haven't removed them yet to see if there's anything under the plate causing the issue.
