Accessory belt smoking

Accessory belt smoking
(01 audi TT 1.8t Q 225) so my Accessory belt smoking then broke.
I replaced the belt and it still smoked, when i reved the car up it smoked alot more.
I took the belt off and in one of the "grooves" of the belt is where the rubbing/carving occurred.
What should I look for ? and how can the problem be fixed quickest and cheapest.
Thanks
Jay

sounds like one of your pulleys is seized. you are going to have to get your front end into service position (moved forward) at a minimum so that you can access the pulleys on the front of your engine and see which one isn't moving.
or it could be something else

I have a TT so i cant see the pulleys from the front, but I did see them from the side and its smoking from the bottom.
Also whats service position ?

just a worthless spammer.
I'm not familiar with the TT. I mean I know what it looks like but not much more. is your engine mounted transversely? either way you are going to have to do something so that you can get at those accessory pulleys and make sure that they are free wheeling.

Anyway, I fixed the problem, my tensoner pulley broke and i replaced just that for 20$. . . It was easier to do then an oil change on these TT's.
