90K MILES SERVICE?TIMING BELT
Need your opinion, I'm at 90K miles now and realized that the car never had the timing belt changed or major service done to it. Called Audi in Pasadena and they wanted $1600 to do the job. That's a little too much for me and I called a local mechanic which can do it for $600. Should I be worry or will they be able to do the same job as the dealer...since the dealer overheads are too high is that why they charge that much. I have extend warranty...does that do any good or how does that work? Thanks.

I probably need to do the same. Saw on VWVortex a package deal for the belt, water pump and a couple other things for around $250.. Just need to find someone around here that can work on the car...

RE: 90K MILES SERVICE?TIMING BELT
The previous owner bought extended warranty for this car...how does that work? Will they cover the cost of the doing 90K service which includes the timing belt/water pump etc. Why didn't the previous owner had the timing belt changed at 60K when it was still under warranty or do they not cover that? $600 for timing belt including all the materials and labor...does that sound scary. Thanks

600 for labor and parts is prety good. the kit is around 250 bucks so labor for 350 is good i highly doubt the warrenty will cover it since they are almost worthless. the timing belt on my car broke and it didnt cover a damn thing! they are bastards most of the time. the name of the company was C.A.R.S

MeanAudiA6,
Thank you very much for your reply...if you don't mine answering a couple of more questions. Should I not wasted my time dealing with the warranty craps and just get it done. I guess I have 2 choices. One is to take it to the dealer which will cost me a fortunate and hopefully the warranty goes through otherwise I will be shitting out 1600 dollars, or to take it to a regular mechanic and have him do it for 600 dollars ricking that they will do a good job. Thanks
