Default 42DD DP to custom catback *PICS*

Well I just got my car back yesterday from Carma Performance Engineering yesterday. I had them put on my 42DD Dp and they also made me a custom catback since there are not many options for the 180fwd. I think it turned out great, quality is topnotch, and I am very pleased with the sound. It is pretty loud when I get on it but being a young guy I think I can handle it. I have not noticed any droning. I have my flame suit on for this, I have the exhaust mated up to a HKS carbon ti muffler, which I love. They documented the entire build with pictures so I will post them up in the next couple of days. The only problem I experienced was when we strapped it on the dyno, my car would spike at 14psi then drop off to 5psi by redline. This is with the stock N75 valve. On the street it will spike to 14psi then drop to 9 or 10psi by redline. I hope to resolve the boost problem next week and make a significant amount of power.

Thanks. Nice to know someone likes it haha. A couple of my friends had them one on an STI and one on a turbo TC and I loved the way they sounded so I decided to do it and I think it turned out great. Sound clips and pictures will hopefully come soon

There is nothing wrong with that exhaust, if I remember correctly Frankiebonez runs that exhaust on his 707 whp GTI...IMO if it works well for a car of that power it's fine by me.

oh, and BTW you have no boost problem...that is typical of the stock turbo...it is too small to keep spool up in those high rpms. What was the max hp and tq?

If anyone else with a 180Q is looking for a 42DD Downpipe, I have one new in-box. PM me for details.

I dynoed at 176hp or 177hp. I'm not sure on torque numbers, I dynoed a couple of weeks before that and made 169hp so I gained a little bit. The shop that made the exhaust for me wants to get the boost up and hold at 16to18psi and hopefully make so good power.

well, you can definitly get your boost up to that or more but holding is a whole different story...if you really wanna make decent power increases buy my K04 kit I have for sale...will definitly get you 50+ hp increase and most likely quite a bit more than that
