No. From what I remember, Coolant circulates through the turbo for a little while after it is turned off.
That's probably what you read.

I just got a 225 TT and after you turn off the engine there is a sound of a small pump or fan running.. Ive not found out where its coming from yet. But after you mentioned the water, it could be that is whats going on

Yes, coolent runs a little longer after shut off. The problem is that the oil is what is needed to be recirculated. Hot oil cooling in the turbo is a bad thing. It can form carbon deposits and shorten the life of the turbo by thousands of miles. When you shut off the car, the oil circulation stops, so you need to either let the car run a little longer or get a turbo timer instead. Most just find it easy to let it run for another 10-20 secs before turning it off.

Unless your coming off the track or redlined it nonstop, most daily driven activities should only need about 10-20 secs to cool it down enough before shutoff.

You gotta remember we're not talking about cooling the turbo from regular engine temp down, we're talking cooling from regular (or excessive) TURBO temperatures. The exhaust side of a turbo can get hot enough to glow when its run hard, a few seconds of idle with oil pumping thru it will bring temps down quickly from regular driving temps.
