RE: 2001 Audi TT 180hp Timing Belt Question
Buy a kit from www.dieselgeek.com or www.ecstuning.com and take it to a trusted local mechanic.
Read the FAQ at the top of the TT section for more timing belt info.

YourTB should be checked soon. I would suggest dieslegeeks kit. I just did a TB job 2 weeks ago and this kit comes with these screws that help remove your water pump, very helpfull. The kit is like $300 shipped with coolant. If your a doit yourself kind of guy this's the one I recommend. Hell even ifyou dont want todo, get your TRUSTED mech to use it. A stealership will try to bend you over and spread em' I was qouted $1400.
Good luck.

Audi/VW motorsports of Salisbury, NY quoted me $620 for the job. Also comes with new ribbed belt for accessories, waterpump with metal impeller, thermostat. They did my APR program and seem like they know what they're talking about.
