I have been communicating with a guy about his used car for sale. He has it listed as an 01 225 q roadster 6 speed. The only pic hea has def shows it as a roadster, it has the fat fives on it, and the vin checks out as an 01 quattro roadster. I am confused because he says its a manual top, I thought on the 225 there was only a power top, since thats what came standard? Is there such thing as an 01 225 q roadster with a manual top? Thanks for the help.

 

I think manual top is a nice way to say "power top is broken"

 

could be manual. maybe the original owner declined power top to save weight.

 

I asked him that question exactly and he said it has always been manual. Can I tell from the vin for a 180 vs a 225 roadster? Again, he lists it as:

2001 Audi TT Roadster Quattro All Wheel Drive
225hp 2dr (1.8L 4cyl Turbo 6M)
6 Speed Manual transmission

 

If it does have the 6 speed it's almost definitely a 225.

Funny things can happen with options, especially in early years.

Arm yourself with pics of both engine bays and go take a look.

good point, since this was the first year for both 225 and roadster. i called where they have had the service done and the guy says when he punched in the vin it spat back out an amu engine code, so thats a good sign

no, its just a crappy cell phone pic on craigslist. I am going to call local dealer and see if they can get it out of the vin for me with certainity.

 

i have one 01 ttqr manual top with amu eng code.
how much and how many miles?
service records? have him do the tb or lower the price.
