During the summer, I doubt it will come on. It's really only needed during cold weather as part of the emission control system.
what code (s) is (are) being thrown. if you don't have your own vagcom, go to autozone or one of the other parts places. they usually will scan it for free and print out the codes.
cheers.

When your pump is on, does it make a loud turbine noise...I mean really loud. If so, the rivets that hold the two halves together may have failed (very common and easily replaced with nut/bolts.)
SAI Pump has three connections: 1 electrical, 2 air. one air hose comes from the airbox (sucks air). the other goes from the pump to the combi valve (blows air). there are also vacume hoses that go from the combi to a couple of valves. any/all of these connections could be bad....mine were...although I didn't get your code but others, but, i'd start there as broken hoses usually generate other issues.
here's a link to your code (P1432) that should also help. book mark the main page for future needs. ;-)

If you don't have a bentley manual, get one (cheapest at amazon). It the only real shop manual out there and while not perfect, it's the best we've got. Chapt 26 discusses the secondary air injection system. Between the ross codes and bentley, you might be able to track it down.
good luck.
