Default ***Bringing a 2000 TT Into Canada***

Hi,
Im new to the forum and i have a few questions for anyone out there that can answer them. I am buying a 2000 Audi TT Coupe from the US. I understand that some modifications have to be done to the car to have it pass inspection in canada. I understand the bumpers need to be changed because they dont meet crash standards here in canada. I was quoted at a price of $3200.00 + labour to install. So instead of doing that junk I decided to get a body kit instead. It would be better looking than the stock bumpers and cheaper than buying a brand new front and rear bumper. Besides the kits pieces themselves, what else do i need to buy to make the car driveable in canada? The guy at the dealership said something about bumper supports or something?? And what other mods does my TT need to get into the country??

*********** PLEASE HELP ME ***********

You'll never get the body kit through Canadian inspection. The dealer was telling you the truth, it's going to cost $3000+ to upgrade the bumpers and add the tumors to the skin. If I were you I'd try to find a TT in Canada that already meets the spec.

I've recently also brought in a 2002 from the US to Canada and would be curious to hear what's involved in making the changes. My hopes were to install the Canadian-spec bumpers (if I absolutely had to) and then once inspection was passed then revert back to the US-spec ones. Is this a feasable thing to expect to do?

Besides that, the car will need daytime running lights (that I am aware of) in Canada as another modification. Any more pointers would be appreciated though from someone who's already gone through the process. I'm hoping to find the bumpers at a junk yard but haven't even started looking yet...

I also brought a 2001, just got the daytime lights done at the dealer. Cost me over $300... You need to change the bumpers and no way around it... i got an estimate from the dealer it's gonna cost just under $5000 including everything.
I'll do the bumpers only for the inspection then i'll put the US bumpers back on the car.
I brought the car to sell, so let me know if anyone is interested. it's a 225 quattro manual.

I know about the running lights and the child teathers. Im curious to find a CHEAP way to get this damn thing passed inspection. I figure as long as i have the important parts of the bumper ( ie, supports, styrofoam etc.) I can put a body kit on the car and it will pass?
