Default $5.00 to make your car look new again?

Just thought I'd throw a suggestion out there... my theory of car detailing -- anyone looking to restore the look of the car to "perfect" needs to look to more than just an excellent wax job.. I firmly believe that there is a huge visual benefit that comes from keeping your trim shined. Try "Back to Black" for a cheap trial, or look online for something better. But don't neglect the trim! It will make your car look new (or old!). Waxing without detailing that trim is like painting a room without cutting in the edges. See if it makes a difference! (especially on your black plastic front grille).

ive been wetsanding my car. I bought my car with roughly new brake pads and my brotherblew one up. Got dust all down the side. I hadto wet sand to get rid of the dust and when finishedfound other scratches and blemishes to remove. Wet sanding andwaxing make a huge differnece if you do it right. Cheap, but very time consuming.

Wet sanding? I hope you mean you're using something 1500-2000 grit to just basically smooth out the clear coat...kind of like a slower version of using a paint cleaner. Wouldn't a clay bar take the brake dust out of the paint?

Oh yeah, in response to the initial post. I agree. Nothing looks worse than a car that's freshly detailed with dull trim and/or brown tires.

2000 works great. YOu have to be very carful not to go through the clearcoat.

claybar may work but i need to get out imperfections also.

I use a Porter-Cable variable speed buffer, poly pads, and Meguairs polishing products. Much more controlable IMHO than wet sanding.
