Default 55k Mile Service??

Hi Folks, I'm new to this forum and Audi in general. From my experience coming from an American car to a Foreign is hella pricey but you pay for what you get and so far I'm loving it. I recently acquired my vehicle and am approaching the 55k mile recommended service. Does anyone know roughly what I should expect to pay for this? Just so that I'll know if I'm being ripped off or not. Also if anyone has any recommendations for reputable Non-Audi service facilities in Philadelphia, Delaware or New Jersey please let me know. Thanks guys.

I just talked to my dealer in Cleveland and he quoted me $695 plus tax. Includes oil change, fluid check, plugs and wires and a couple other minor things. My Mercedes cost about that much for plugs and wires at 90k miles so I'm thinking that is the bulk of the whole cost. If it doesn't void my warranty, I'm going to piece it out since none of the work seems to require Audi $130/hr labor. Can't help on locating an independent mechanic, but you could try Annie's List.com

Let me know how the service goes, if you get it. I found an independent guy here that works on all European cars for only $35/ hr. so I'm going to have him to most of it- he says it's about $300 in parts and 2 hours labor.

Just out of curiosity, how do you like the Q7 so far? I like a lot about it, but it rides super-rough and the engine is pretty loud for a premium vehicle. Same with yours?

For everything that's listed in the manual I was thinking a few grand so that's a relief and really good to know. I'm only at the 51k mark so I have a few more miles to go but I did find a service facility with excellent reviews that I will probably check out. I LOVE the Q7 but yes it definitely does ride rough. Yeah the engine is pretty loud, when I test drove a Rover it was super smooth and quiet and I was hoping for the same. It's actually better on gas than my Charger was which is a big surprise. I have the sunroof rattle when going over any bump which drives me crazy, it's not too bad right now but I can see it progressing. Other than that I love it.

Just an update on the 55k service. So far I got an oil change for $70 bucks in which they rotated and balanced tires, lubricated all suspension parts, checked brake pads and rotors, and checked all fluids. Could have been $25 but I insisted on full synthetic oil so I don't have to get another one for 10k miles. I bought an air filter for $40 and a cabin dust filter for $25 and both are just a couple clips to install according to the manuals. So...most of the list is done for under $150! I'll let you know how the filter installs go, but so far saving big bucks.

It is always less expensive to go to a reptable independent shop for auto maintenance. I'd only return to the dealer if there was "free" maintenance for a year or whatever, and of course, for warranty repairs. Using an independent shop does NOT affect your warranty. Just be sure to keep itemized receipts fo all work and maintenance.
