Might be worth filing reports online with the NHTSA and asking for a formal recall.

If the glass shatters while the mesh is retracted, and results in glass fragments getting in the drivers face and eye while they are driving, that's a serious safety hazard.

If Audi knows there is a problem with defective glass, and hasn't stepped forward on this...forget the carrot, use the big stick. I'd be fairly ballistic if any of the glass on my car simply shattered for no reason and got in my face while I was driving.
