Rubbing noise when releasing brake pedal

Rubbing noise when releasing brake pedal
So I just had new OEM pads put on the front brakes without new rotors. The shop was not firm that rotors were an issue and I'm near the end of the lease. The light had come on indicating the pads were ready.
After driving for about 45 minutes, with light braking, I came to a stop. When I released the brake pedal, with car in Drive, I get a definite "rubbing" sound as the car starts to move, and I think I can feel it as well.
I called the shop and they said it was likely because the rotors were not new and they would wear in after some more driving. I've looked online and seen threads on "bedding in" pads but not anything related to the noise I'm hearing. Btw - the light is still on.
Any chance they have something misaligned or something? Since I can't get it to do it until after quite a bit of driving is it possible it's heat related?

Unless your rotors are warped they shouldn't cause a problem if 'not new'
They are so cheap nowdays that most of us replace them every other brake job.
It's possible they did not get the clips on correctly for the pads, but they usually rattle.
Was the light ever out after the work was done ?
If they did the job properly it should have been extinguished via settings / calibration before you left.

They told me the light didn't go out because the rear ones are now too thin. Even though they told me about 500 miles ago that I had a little time left on those pads....
Going to have a 3rd party look at them today as I just don't trust this shop anymore.
