lp2003 - You will need the phone cradle. Make sure you get the B model. I ordered mine from www.autopartsnationwide.com/. You will need the specific part number to search. It is 4E0 862 407B.

That part is the cradle that plugs into the plate under your armrest. The puck plugs into that.

lgball - Thanks, I think I found the part. Does $299 sound right for the cradle? So how do you like yours. Have you had any issue using the integrated phone functions with you cell phone. I assume since this is bluetooth and uses the cellphone that it does not matter what carrier I use. I would like to get my blackberry working with it...

 

$299 is about right. It's a ripoff, but it's a foreign car part. What's a guy to do?

Anyway, you might do a search on the forums at www.audiworld.com- there are a bunch of reports on which phones work and which don't work so good. I can voice dial, use the steering wheel controls and use voice tags, but nothing appears on the MMI screen except mute. I'm having the MMI update done this week - that may change and I will report if it does. It works great, but is just shy of the full integration you see in the full BT implementation in the later models.

 

lgball, with different messages posted, I'm not sure two or only one device is required. I think a D3 04 A8 requires two devices below in order to have bluetooth connectivity

1. v60 cradle (4E0 862 407B.)
2. CPT9000 bluetooth upgrade module

Would you please confirm.

I recently bought a '04 A8 and need to get the cradle. I am in Canada and went to the web site you mentioned and did find the cradle. I'm about to buy it but need to be sure it will work. You mentioned that you are upgrading the MMI. What will that give you? Better integration and view on your screen? I have a BT blackberry, you think that will give me emails etc.

 

MMI Upgrade still doesn't appear to have worked. Don't kow why the dealer is haveing a hard time with it. I've asked to borrow the disk and try it myself. No response to that yet.

FWIW, I did get an upgraded NAV disk out of the deal, so I am now on version 2008. I don't know if it was part of the attempted MMI upgrade or if they knew I was pissed that the disk that came with the car was a burned copy and kept showing read errors. Either way, good for me.

A couple of questions:

1. Do you need an MMI upgrade for the phone cradle to work?

2. Right now, I do not have the cradle. When I click the phone button on the MMI, I get a message stating that my phone is not activated. Do I need to get the dealer to do something? Or, will my phone be activated when I plug in the puck and the cradle to my car?
