Need help with purchase decision on A8

RE: Need help with purchase decision on A8
I have been told that 80,000 is standared fot the 4.2 A8 for the timeing belt. I have a 98 A8 and 01 A8L with 82,000 and 60,000 respectfully. I am going in to replace the 98s' belt soon. I have noticed that keeping your oil changes on time helps a lot. I recently changed to Mobile 1 full synthetic and instantly noticed a difference. The thinks I would look out for in buying the higher mile late 90's A8s is the electrical systems. I have had numerious little hic-cups with mirrors, headrests, seats, and power ports. All these are just an inconviance, but spendy if you want them fixed. Good luck, I would still recomind them, they are great to drive and you wont be lost in the parking lot looking for you car.

Info please, A8 air filters
Hello,
I just purchased a 97 A8 with 70K. Has been factory serrviced since new.
Question one. What is the factory time to replace timing belt.
Question two. Under the hood and mounted in the hood are two air filters. They appear to never have been replaced. What are they, what do they do, and can they be replaced with aftermarket units?

heh.. i've been offered one with 230k on the clock, for £2500.. im thinking of haggling
if youre asking whether its possible to do that on one timing belt.. that would be a resounding "no"

RE: Need help with purchase decision on A8
my brothers 99 A8 has 287K this is unreal. The car is running like new. as for timing belts. $450 you can do it, in Brooklyn, NY and that's with your parts. I have an account in Audi so it's cheap
